Chars Region, Bangladesh: Pilot Program in Burn Prevention and Burn Care Training
In collaboration with Friendship Bangladesh and Friendship Netherlands, Global Surgery Amsterdam have been asked to help support the medical team in Bangladesh to develop burn training for health workers to improve essential burn care through surgical teaching and research. The first phase of this project is to provide our burns care course as well as carry out an inventory in collaboration with the Friendship team on how burn care can be further improved in this setting.
Friendship works in partnership with people, communities, organisations and the government to create solutions to the challenges faced by the poor and marginalised communities in Bangladesh. Friendship’s vision is a world where everyone will have equal opportunity to live with dignity and hope. Access to healthcare is a fundamental human right, but is not yet available to many of the poor in the remote areas of Bangladesh. Friendship has worked over the past 15 years to develop the infrastructure, services and innovative technologies that enable them to bring reliable health care to these remote areas. Friendship uses hospital ships, static clinics, satellite clinics, community medic-aides, diagnoses via mobile phone and a satellite platform to improve health care in Bangladesh.
