His ambition is to specialize as surgeon, either as orthopedic or general surgery. He is a dedicated trainee of the training program in basic surgical skills of Doctors of the World, which takes place twice a year at Haydom.

Louise is a sixth-year medical student at the Utrecht University. Since her internship in Tanzania, she has an interest in global surgery. In Tanzania she appreciated the potential impact of global surgery and ever since she is involved in global surgery research. WIth the research she determined to contribute to build capacity in burn surgery in the Manyara district in a sustainable way.

Biography
Charissa obtained her Master’s degree in Medicine at the VU University medical center. She is currently working as a surgical resident as part of the Global Health & Tropical Medicine residency program. Charissa has been actively involved in global health since starting her studies with experience in the International Federation of Medical Students’ Association and clinical experience in Suriname. Her passion for global healthcare combined with plastic and reconstructive surgery resulted in a position as board member of the Netherlands Society for International Surgery and research projects focusing on reconstructive plastic surgery in Low- and Middle Income Countries.

Nathan Beijneveld is a resident in the Global health and Tropical Medicine programme in the Netherlands. He has been researching surgical burn care for a few years now. He is interested in general, reconstructive and burn surgery. Outside the hospital he prefers to spend his free time bouldering.
